i grow mine in pots and put 5 in a 2 ft by 1ft pot spaced evenly i give them liquid growmore and potash and i have masses of flowers coming and at the rate there going the yield will be exceptionally high, i have a 125 plants so will be looking like a strawberry come june. i put plant pots of compost at side of the pots to plant the runners in and when rooted snip the runner of to avoid a tangled mess i also only allow so many plants to do runners and snip the runners of the other plants before they really start to grow just as there starting to show otherwise you get less fruit, and become over run with the runners.
good luck, strawberries are quite tolerant to most situations so long as you dont bury the crown.
