Default Bramble & bindweed roots... when you say *every* bit...?

So, I've reached the stage of clearance on my lottie when I'm dealing with all the roots. Lots of people have told me I need to dig out 'every bit' of bramble and bindweed root to stop them regrowing. I need to ask... does that mean every last little tiny cotton thin bit of stuff? Or will it be good enough to get all the bits big enough to see without my glasses on? If it's the former, I may as well do it while I'm at it but if it's the latter, I can save a lot of time
